The Aitkin County Jail is an 89-bed facility housing men and women. 14 Corrections Officers provide a safe and humane detention facility for persons lawfully placed in our care. The facility holds people waiting for trial and people convicted of a crime who are sentenced. The jail in its current configuration opened in 2002 as a remodel of the 1984 jail. The jail has both linear cellblocks and direction supervision type units.
Important Jail Policies and Procedures
Visits are scheduled in 25 minute blocks. Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance. The appointments can be scheduled at, Monday through Friday during regular business hours ONLY. A visitor must appear on an offender’s visitor list, contact them if you are not on their list. Visitors are subject to an ID check at check-in and maybe searched at anytime during the visit.
The jail has three opportunities to visit weekly:
Sundays 1:00pm to 4:00pm (last appointment 3:30pm)
Tuesdays 6:00pm to 9:00pm (last appointment 8:30pm)
Thursdays 1:00pm to 4:00pm (last appointment 3:30pm)
