Sex offenders are mandated by law to provide their information to the state and national sex offender databases. These registries are maintained to keep track of sex offenders to increase public safety and awareness. An individual convicted of a sex crime such as rape, prostitution, and sex trafficking is classified as a sex offender. Anyone who wants to check for sex offenders in their neighborhood in Davidson County can visit . It is important to take note that you may get search results showing last known addresses of offenders. Some may even show incomplete addresses such as just the block where an offender lives. This may be caused by the non-compliance of some offenders with the registration law.
Bail and Bondsman
Securing an inmate’s release from custody while he is waiting for his trial to start can be done by posting bail. Bail is the amount of money set by the court as a form of “insurance policy” on the defendant. The court will require the defendant to pay the bail which it will keep for the duration of the trial to ensure that the defendant shows up for all his court dates. If he misses one, the money will be forfeited.
If the defendant cannot come up with the money for bail due to financial difficulties, a bondsman can be hired to post bail on his behalf. A bondsman normally charges 10% of the bail amount as his fee. This is non-refundable.
