Both databases are made available to the public to help promote safety and awareness. Sex offenders are legally defined as individuals who have been charged and convicted of a sex-related offense such as sexual assault, prostitution, and child molestation. People who want to learn about the sex offenders in Lee County can use the state’s sex offender registry at.

Please make sure that you read and understand the disclaimer. It cannot be guaranteed that the information listed on the database is completely accurate. Some search results may only reveal the last known residence of a sex offender. In some cases, only the block where the offender’s house is located will be listed.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Department, assisted by the United States Marshals Service, arrested Jason Wayne Chambers for failing to register as sex offender in Lee County. Jason Wayne Chambers was convicted in 2001 in Cullman County Alabama for 2nd Degree Rape. Jason Wayne Chambers was registered with our office as living in Lee County, at a Federal Probation Facility, serving probation on a 2006 Federal Charge of Threating by Mail to Injure a United States Magistrate Judge. The Federal Probation Service contacted us 5 days ago to report that Jason Wayne Chambers had failed to return to the Facility. Once the Lee County Sheriff’s Department was notified of Jason Wayne Chamber’s failure to return, we begin investigating his whereabouts. We received information that Jason Wayne Chambers was in the Sherman area. We begin working with Sherman Police Department and United States Marshal Service in locating him.

During our investigation it was discovered that Malia Bridget Cox was involved in a relationship with Jason Wayne Chambers. A search of a home that belonged to Malia Bridget Cox's mom was made and Jason Wayne Chambers was arrested. The home was located in Sherman.

Thanks to the diligent work by United States Marshal Service, Sherman Police Department, and this office, we were able to solve this case.

Charged:
Jason Wayne Chambers - Failing to Register as Sex Offender
34 years of age / Lee County MS

Malia Bridget Cox – Harboring, Assisting, Giving False Information regarding a Sex Offender
31 years of age / Pontotoc MS

From Sheriff Jim H Johnson
A year ago, I was asked to serve on a committee to select a site for a new facility. Three others and I completed that task, and we were able to select our current site with an option to acquire the land adjacent to our current facility at no cost. This was done after a study revealed that it was too costly to repair our current facility. This option was presented to the board, and it failed to pass. I was then asked to confer with architects to look at adding 100 beds and repairing what could be repaired. This option was presented and it also failed. I have completed a 360 degree trip and have yet to reach a workable solution to this public safety problem.

Are you looking for family or group projects? Can you or your group make a centerpiece?

We need your help! We will be holding our annual Senior Citizen Christmas festival December 5th. We are calling on businesses, civic groups, school clubs, churches, individuals, etc to sponsor by making a centerpiece for a table. We will provide signage for each table to recognize you! We will give these as door prizes at the end of the event. The centerpieces donated last year were AMAZING! Obviously a lot of love went into each one!

The only guideline is that it needs to be of a size that the senior adult can carry with them. This was such a hit with the attendees last year, we want to do it again! If you are interested, send us an inbox or comment below and we will contact you!! Thank you, in advance!!

The festival date is Tuesday, December 5th so **the decoration will be needed by December 4th**.

Options:
1. Deliver it to the Tupelo Furniture Market, Building V on Monday, December 4th between the hours of 2pm - 4pm
2. Deliver it to the Sheriff's Dept by Friday, December 1st (Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm) and we can transport and assemble for you.
3. We can pick it up from you any day before Friday, December 1st.

Thank you, in advance! We look forward to the community participation again this year!

From Sheriff Jim H. Johnson:

How many times have we heard, “It costs too much money to incarcerate criminals”?

We deal every day with people that are placed in programs that are designed as an alternative to incarceration. Please read the release below and maybe someone can explain to the 17 victims in Lee County how these programs protected them from this criminal. You will never make me understand how programs that are designed to assist and help criminals, who continue that lifestyle, are better than looking out for law abiding citizens. I will continue to fight to make our county a great place to work, live and raise a family.
